HELD FOR GRAFT

The local Vigilance has arrested a section officer of the Rajpura municipal council Pardeep Kumar on the charges of corruption. He had allegedly absconded during a vigilance raid a few days ago with a bribe money of Rs 15,000.

Amartex commits 5000 Crores of Investment

Amartex Industries proposes to set up a textile park and a food processing facility in Punjab with an investment of Rs5,000 crore.

The projects are planned on 100 acres of land between Zirakpur and Ambala and Rajpura and Ludhiana. Amartex has expansion plans with a capital of Rs180 crore to be funded through an equity issue in May 2007.

It proposes a joint venture with a Chinese firm to set up a garment plant.

Robber Nabbed in Rajpura

The Rajpura police arrested an accused in the January 31 robbery case Joga Singh on the Rajpura-Ambala highway here last night. Acting on a tip-off, a police party caught Joga Singh who was coming from Ambala. During interrogation, he is reported to have confessed to the crime. A goldsmith and a doctor were robbed on the night of January 31 by at least six armed persons. A case has been registered.
